  skiing - prepresidents day
Trev, Peter and I made it up for some skiing and boarding on Friday. It was an interesting trip in a few ways. peter came over from the bay area and spent the night with us on thursday. Problem was that he met us at our basketball game and decided he would hurt the top of his foot shooting around with us. When we woke up in the morning he was in extreme pain, but still couldn't pass up the chance to go, so we headed on up. As we all piled into my car and hit the road, chain requirements were on so we had to stop just before the summit and throw the cables on the tires. I really didn't think it was necessary but it does make people drive slower.
Anyhow we threw those on (and another lady who asked us for some help) and started up over the summit. As we just passed the summit the cables on one of the tires broke and started making a lot of noise (they were rusted from use the year before). I attempted MacGyvering it a bit and we started along again. It worked for a little while, then since we were past the summit I decided to take them off. Smooth sailing again...
We got to nstar with no problems and enjoyed the day. Although peter went off by himself and was in serious pain. We met up for lunch, somehow fandangled 3 full prime rib dinners in exchange for a coupon trev had and we chowed heartily...
We finally went to go back home and had to put the cables back on (one set was broken). I got some wire cutters from a trucker and fixed them the best I could. We started going again and they broke again in another spot. We had to take those off and made it back home just fine. A good day overall.
When we got back peter was still in a lot of pain and went to the doctor a couple days later to discover he had chipped a bone in his foot, thus snowboarding on it probably wasn't the best for it... oh well all in the name of fun... I would have liked to stay up in tahoe the whole weekend, but I'm still getting adjusted to being back home and took care of some chores and errands. (Besides better than fending off the 3-day weekend crowds...)
