Is it wakeboarding season yet?The weather is starting to turn pretty nice again here in Northern Cali, maybe time to start getting out on the river a bit more often!
Check out some wakeboarding clips from last season always fun to watch and remember how sore I was then...
Here's a clip of an inverted attempt from me at the end of last year's season... If you get bored watching the lead up to it, just skip ahead to the end.
Here are some clips of me crashing and burning last season, bring your OH face to watch these. I'll be ready to start landing them this year. =)
Here are some clips of kevin attempting last year, we have such different styles, gotta love it! =)
Last Day of Skiing for the 06-07 Season? Friday, not a bad day for some skiing! Kev, trev, syd, and I headed up the hill for a good day of spring skiing. Surprisingly, the snow was really nice and I had a blast. Basically a day of groomed runs, but that can be a lot of fun when there are no people on the hill, it's warm, and I'm happy to not be at work! The day was pretty short, finishing up around 2 something. But that gave us the chance to head back down the hill and jump on the boat for a quick couple runs of wakeboarding. I can't say I wasn't a little tired wakeboarding, but still, now I can say I've skiied and wakeboarded on the same day! =) (btw, the pics aren't too bad for coming from my phone...)
When did I turn into such a pansy? One of the things I posted a little while back was that I wanted to make sure to not get injured, because I hate being injured. Well, I felt I was doing really good and getting a good base in this year until I turned my ankle at Bern & Jamie's wedding. That was just plain dumb, d'oh. It's not the worst sprain I've had, that's for sure, but then when I started running the next week I must have been compensating for it a little and then started to feel some discomfort in the heel of my foot, which I never really feel. So that was new for me. Then when I went wakeboarding a week or so ago my calf crampped up after my last turn while I was trying to get out of my binding. Then for the rest of the weekend my calf was really sore.
Then this last weekend I played at DUI (Davis Ultmiate Invite) on a coed team. On Saturday I strained, pulled or crampped my hamstring on my right leg. I iced it overnight and played again on Sunday. I must have been compensating again because I did what felt like the same thing on my left leg. So now I'm just hobbling around trying to have a smile on my face. I'm sure I'll be back to my same antics, but some good motivation to say strong and healthy!!
How did I get dragged into another run? I was in town and not up the hill skiing, so I figured what the heck, what's another run under my belt. The girls training for the Rock'n'Roll Marathon in San Diego on June 3 convinced me to come out and run this last Sunday since they were going to be running in it. I've been running a little bit and I didn't do the Davis Stampede this year, so I was due to particpate in an organized run I suppose. The only other half marathon I've done was during the Wildflower Tri back in Apr of 2005 and that one really tore me up.
I went out and felt pretty good here in Sacramento so I'm glad I pounded some miles out. Peer pressure keeps coming for me to do the Rock'n'Roll, but I still don't think I have a ton of desire to beat on my body to complete it. We'll see if I actually keep running between now and then. It's going to be lighter out now because of the time change and that may spell for me doing other activities rather than running.
Here's some times of me and some of the friends. =):

Notes (random or not): - The winner of this race was 33 yrs old and had a time of 1:11:29 (5:27/M) - Lance Armstrong did his first full marathon in 2:59:36 on Nov 5, 2006 (link) - Oprah's record marathon time is 4:29:20 at the Marine Corps Marathon in 1994
I think if I did a marathon I would want to try to do under 3hrs, but that may not be realistic... I was thinking about the goal of 1:30 for this half marathon, but since I hadn't been training specifically for a half, I made sure not to push myself over any limit too early on. I think I could have run a little faster, but am very happy with what I got, just some more things to shoot for... =)
This season started out very slow with a bleak outlook for snow. I didn't get up the hill and actually skiied for the first time this season on Feb 14! They also changed the vertical plus thing on the season pass, so instead of scanning in each time you're getting on the lift you just do it at the beginning. This isn't as beneficial for us who hit a lot of runs, so getting this bonus feature is less attractive for us now.
pbh4 Wakeboarding Here's a little page for wakeboarding stuff. I remember doing water sports a little growing up. My uncle had a jet boat for a while and I remember getting dragged behind it for a little while on a knee board and tube. Then maybe even tried water skiing a little. I remember not really liking being in the water where I couldn't see what was in there with me, I think I was a little scared. But since then I've gone a bit more and developed a little love for the water, especially here in CA when the summers get so hot! Wakeboarding came on the scene and I probably started going a little sporadicly once I got to college. I recall trying one time on an old Ski Natique in Don Pedro when I was in jr high or high school. All that I remember was briefly standing up and then heading directly to the side because I was so used to water skiing. My uncle got me a board at some point, maybe in 2001 or so and I started trying that out on his boat. Since then I've gained a little experience and it's hard getting me to stop. =)
Seasons: 2004 - and before - a little and liked it 2005 - going quite a bit and liking it 2006 - a lot of wakeboarding Bodies of Water in CA I've Wakeboarded/Skiied on: Sacramento River Lake Tahoe Shasta Lake Lake Berryessa Folsom Lake Bass Lake (near Oakhurst) Delta - Acker Island (Lost Isle), Grizzly Bay, etc Don Pedro Pine Flat Reservoir Camanche Reservoir New Hogan Reservoir Turlock Lake Mission Bay (Jet skiied here)
Other Bodies of Water I've been to but don't think I've boarded or skiied on: New Malones Lake Lake Almanor Lake Oroville Clear Lake
Turkey Trot 2006 10k-ers (and yes, I get to put 2 pics of me in there...=P)
5k-ers:
Turkey Trot 2006! Our best showing yet!! At least 10+ of us that we signed up directly and more that I noticed there or saw from the finishers list. It was a perfect day for running, the sky was clear, the wind was calm, the temps were cool, just a georgous day. Of course we did stay out the night before until about 1:30-2:00a and then came back home, got up and ran. I'm starting to wonder if not doing that will help us run faster, but hey, we still keep posting some decent times. This was just the beginning of my day of festivities; soon to be followed by the Causeway Classic, then a BBQ & Hangout at kevs. A pretty good day if I do say so myself. =)

currently living in sac, ca. working for water resources. went to ucd in civil, grew up in turlock, ca. there is a lot to say about me, i am constantly redefining myself everyday. i think the things i do define who i am on a certain level. although the more i communicate and interact with others the more i find out about myself. i can be completely happy without interaction with people though. when i run, when i bike, i am completely in my own thoughts, sometimes i just pay attention to my surroundings, other times, my mind is going a million miles a minute. sometimes i have such a big picture perspective, other times i will really focus on something specific. i'll keep living, learning, experiencing...
