GREEN LEG8:00a-(ish) ~ 10:30a-(ish)
Meet in the crowd of people near the starting line
The
Davis Turkey Trot has been a staple tradition in the month of November (
my documentation). I missed running it in 2008 but was able to take
pictures. I'm planning on running the 10k this year though and if you're up for joining in on the fun (5k or 10k) I'd love to have you there. Or if you have no desire to run, you can always take pictures or make some signs, it's a fun atmosphere to be in.
The 5k starts at 8:20a and the 10k starts at 9:00a. I'm planning on being there a little bit early and will probably be roaming the starting area near the registration tables prior to the start.
BLUE LEG12:30 - 6:00p-(ish) (just after dark)
Meet at
SkyDance (add'tnl info: http://daviswiki.org/Skydance_Skydiving)This leg is mostly weather dependent, so if it's bad weather the logistics may change. SkyDance is a great location with room to hangout and partake in some great activities. We will be here starting at 12:30, feel free to show up anytime after that. The feel or mood of this leg can be characterized as mellow with a little adrenaline mixed in.
Activities: Hanging out and snacking. Bean bag, ladder golf, etc (if you have a game you want to bring, do it!). Maybe even a fire when it gets dark if SkyDance is ok with it (we'll play this by ear). Also, if you've got one or two, consider bringing your own folding chair.
Food/Drink: I am trying to keep food simple, probably a munchie or two, and some chili & cornbread.
- Bevies: I'll have some jugs with water (so bring a bottle if you have one) and probably a pony keg of hefewizen and/or pale ale. If you would like something else, feel free to bring some food or bevies to consume or share.
- Just a note here: I would suggest not bringing anything (or just bring something small) unless you will only specifically drink or eat something.
1) We will probably have enough to satisfy.
2) They do sell food and drink at SkyDance and
3) You can always grab something at Plainfield or Bistro or wherever we end up. =)
Optional Activities: Target Shooting and SkydivingTarget Shooting: http://daviswiki.org/Yolo_Sportsmen's_Association
This will most likely happen before 12:30 (and before any bevie consumption), if you are interested in joining in on this let me know. It'll probably be ~$10 a person.
Skydiving?!: I am planning on jumping, and I have a scheduled appointment at 1:30p. (So that means no adult beverage consumption prior to that time for me...) If you are interested in joining (and I would
love it if you want to skydive with me) let me know and we'll square away more
details. Basically you'll need to show up at a specific time for paperwork and instruction and it'll cost probably about $200. It sounds like there are not a ton of spots left on Nov 21 though...
Additional Info:-
DOGS: Dogs are allowed conditionally:
1. Dogs cannot be in the parachute folding area
(they don't want claws getting anywhere near the apparatus that a jumper is dependent on to support their life as they are gliding back down to the earth and those chutes are pretty darn expensive!).2. Dogs shouldn't be in the food area.
3. There is a lot of room out there and they have a preferred location where you could tie them up.
Basically they are fine with dogs, so long as you can be sure to be considerate of the situation there.
- I know the
Causeway Classic will be going on at Sac State, I believe we should be able to listen in on the game via the radio. (As much as I would like to make the game, this was the compromise)
On the way out:After dark and on the way back into Davis, I'm planning to swing by
Plainfield Station for a quick game of pool and maybe even a beverage or two.
YELLOW LEG7:30p - til we drop!
Meet on
Bistro 33 Patio in Davis
I'm planning on using the 'Beast' (Bistro 33) as a launching pad to any further gallyvanting for the night. We can start off with the birthday cake and see where that takes us!!!
There are plenty of places to walk to (Woodstocks, Froggy's, etc) for food and fun!
