World Team Tennis
So I went and volunteered with BBBS at a WWT event in Roseville hosted by the Sacramento Capitals on Wed night (Jul 11). I'd never been to a match like this before (and really I didn't get to see much of it because I was busy manning a station with some other folks). It's a different scoring format than regular tennis, but interesting. There are 5 matches that determine the outcome - Mixed Dbls, Wmns Dbls, Mens Sgls, Wmns Sgls, Mens Dbls. Ea match is played to 5 games. Points are scores by numbers (ie 1, 2, etc) rather than traditionally (love, fifteen, thirty, forty, duce, etc) which is a little weird for me, but ok, I guess. Still an interesting event.

I just met my little brother for the first time
Have I lost a little bit of that kid in me? I hope not. I met for the first time today with my little brother that I'm matched with. He asked me some questions I haven't considered in a little while.
-If you could have any super powers what would they be? (you can have more than one)
(his answer: acid spit that he could control when he wanted to, that's pretty cool)
- Do you like to make funny faces or funny sounds?
- Do you like the Care Bears?
- Do you like peanut butter and jelly mixed together?
- Who's your favorite teenage mutant ninja turtle?
- Do you have any wierd things or phrases you say?

BBBS - Sac
So it's been a little while coming but since I've been in town for a while now, I knew I really wanted to start getting involved in being a part of something where I felt like I could give something back. I just went in for an interview with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sacramento (http://www.bbbs-sac.org/) to be a Big Brother. I know when I was growing up I did something similar where I was in more of the Little Brother role and I think this is a great opportunity to do the same for someone else. I know there was definitely a positive influence on my life and I hope I could do the same. It will take a little while to go through the process and get set up before being consistent, but I'm excited. It will basically involve about once a week meeting with my little brother and doing various activities. I'm sure we will both get something positive out of it. Life is just so crazy and none of us know where we will go and it's just taking those steps out of our comfort zones that really make us grow the most. I already know this year will be a year of growth. =)
