Beijing, day 4 - Apr 28 - Biking without stopping & then the Summer Palace

Today Jen and I rode around about as much of Beijing as is possible in a day while still maintaining the shape of your back side. I estimate we put about 40-50km in on the bikes we had. I don't know that I could describe the route we took but we saw a lot of Beijing. Jen told me that the national bird of China was the 'crane', which you could see atop all the buildings under construction in their race to prepare the city for the Olympics. We rode through small neighborhoods, dodged the crazy traffic, weaved in and out among people, and were always on our toes!! A lot of fun if I do say so myself! By the time we grabbed lunch and got back to her place, she was late for class and I showed up and saw where she studied and tried to be a good excuse for her missing some class... (as she has a 1 on 1 class).

I then ventured off on my own and checked out the Summer Palace. A really nice place to relax and take a stroll. Note quite a few places in Beijing are under some sort of renovation to get ready for the Olympics in 2008. There was some construction here, but really no big deal...
